Notre Dame des Quilles will host a pop-up this Friday and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. with Sri Lankan grub from Gamini Karunanayake a.k.a. Mr. Jim, who cooks just next door at Gus.
Gus chef and owner David Ferguson reports that Karunanayake's "staff meals are legendary."
"We featured his talents at the 2010 Montréal en Lumière as a tasting menu (La Presse critic Robert Beauchemin even commented the meal was one of the highlights of the year). He is also frequently called upon to cook for charity events in Toronto."
Jean-François Baril (Globe, Anabel) and Jean-Francois Turbide (Lawrence) will be on hand to assist.
On the menu: vegetable rice curry, chicken curry, goat roti and grilled chicken legs. All between $6 and $8.
