About a month ago, we previewed Tiradito's mash-up of Japanese and Peruvian food downtown — and as of tonight, you can check it out in person.
Tiradito has an unusual approach to service — instead of servers, customers will be served by the people cooking the food, and the chefs will do it right in front of them behind a bar.
With chef Marcel Larrea (formerly of Mezcla) behind it, the food seems very promising — Larrea picked up many of his skills with Nikkei cuisine (the fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines) from internationally renowned Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio. His menu features tiradito (Peruvian-style sashimi) prominently as well as the meaty and grilled anticuchos, a Peruvian street snack. The drinks match, with plenty of pisco and fresh fruit.
But it's not just the food and drinks that appeal — Tiradito's interior is a mix of tropical and mid-century vibes, complete with large neon condor. This is your first look at it all, courtesy of Eater photographer Randall Brodeur.
STATUS — Tiradito is open evenings as of Friday October 14 at 1076 de Bleury Street.
