The annual Taste Canada awards celebrate excellence in food writing and culinary publishing. The ceremony, held last night in Toronto with Montreal's own Stefano Faita (Impasto, In the Kitchen with Stefano Faita on CBC) as emcee, featured a strong contingent of local talent.
Shoo-ins like Burma: Rivers of Flavor by Naomi Duguid and Canada's Favourite Recipes by Rose Murray and Elizabeth Baird were duly honoured. On trend, so was a book about kale.
The big news for Montreal, however, were the wins for Cabane à sucre Au pied de Cochon: Le sirop d'erable by Martin Picard and Toqué! Les artisans d'une gastronomie québécoise by Normand Laprise. Félicitations!
