Sel Gras was open less than a week in the old Bu space when it was beset by a blaze at approximately 4:00 a.m. on September 3. Three of the restaurant's partners, Farsim Fahandezh, David Martin and Matthieu Arteau, had met seven years ago as bartenders at Suite 701, with subsequent stints, collectively, at the likes of Lobby, La Porte Rouge, Dominion Square Tavern, Dolcetto and Buonanotte. Marco Santos was to helm the kitchen. Now, three months after the fire, the Mile End, Saint-Laurent boulevard restaurant is on the mend. Photographer Randall Brodeur was recently on site with the resilient Sel Gras crew to record footage of the work in progress.
