A brigade of top Montreal and Quebec chefs is out in full force for the 13th annual Big Media Food Drive - or La grande guignolée des médias - today. The event unites scores of media figures and thousands of volunteers across the province in an effort to collect non-perishable food items and cash to help the poor.
The impressive lineup of culinary volunteers includes Gold Medal Plates Montreal champ Danny St-Pierre (Auguste, Qu'est-ce qu'on mange pour souper), Nick Hodge (Icehouse), Bob le Chef, Patrice Demers (Patrice Pâtissier, Les desserts de Patrice), Anne Desjardins (chef, consultant), Stefano Faita (Impasto , In The Kitchen), Jérôme Ferrer (Europea), Martin Juneau (Pastaga, Et que ça saute), Louis-François Marcotte (Signé M, Cabine M), Ian Perreault (Chez Lionel) and Marie-Fleur St-Pierre (Marie-Fleur et ses tapas, Tapeo).
Organisers of La grande guignolée des médias hope to raise over $2.75 million this year. If successful, the charity's total since 2001 will top the $25 million mark.
