ÎLE SAINTE-HÉLÈNE— The newly merged McCord Stewart Museum is putting together a Charles McKiernan aka Joe Beef-inspired benefit on Wednesday, September 25. The two people most responsible for resuscitating McKiernan's legacy from the dustbin of history, Dave McMillan and Fred Morin, will serve as co-presidents of "Joe Beef at the Museum." The event will take place in "the spectacular vaulted kitchens of the barracks" where the original Joe Beef cooked from 1864-1868 and will include cocktails and food from the likes of Milos, Toqué!, and Blackstrap BBQ. Proceeds (tickets start at $250) will benefit the Education and Cultural Services of the Stewart Museum, which finances free visits for school groups from disadvantaged neighborhoods. [EaterWire]
