Remember when Bofinger was a small Notre-Dame-de-Grâce upstart on Sherbrooke between Oxford and Harvard? Seems like a long time ago. Because sometime between the first and second rack of ribs the smokehouse had sister outlets Downtown, Mile End and the West Island and overt plans to franchise.
Now comes word of a 50% purchase of Bofinger BBQ Smokehouse Restaurants by one MMCN Investments Inc. The two principals in the Montreal company, only recently incorporated in December, are Christopher Persechino and Margaret Murzynska. Lorne Bienstock stays on as CEO.
The announcement of the sale came with this statement from Persechino.
Through our involvement, we expect to increase operational efficiencies of the company's central kitchen as well build the Bofinger brand's market awareness within Quebec and Canada. Part of our focus will be to capitalize on the company's great products by bringing them to retail distribution as well as build out further restaurants across the province.
More details to come, obviously.
