Call it a comeback. Months after a terrible fire, Sel Gras hit the reset button this week in the old Bu Bar à Vin. The space has been completely remade and the kitchen keen to show off the restaurant's spin on "refined comfort food with a Mediterranean flavour."
The chef is Marco Santos, late of Old Montreal's L'Orignal, where he won plaudits for his skill with game from the likes of Food & Wine. Partners include Dave Martin ( ex-Lobby and La Porte Rouge), Farsim Fahandezh (ex-Buonanotte) and Matthieu Arteau (ex-Dominion Square Tavern and Dolcetto). The trio met seven years ago as bartenders at Suite 701 in the Hotel Place d'Armes.
