A Quebec native and ITHQ grad has just won the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Young Sommelier of the Year award for 2014, reports Decanter. Pier-Alexis Soulière, late of est. in Sydney, represented Australia and withstood two days of fierce competition in Copenhagen to take home €1,000 and a Cordon Bleu wine scholarship.
Soulière's résumé also includes Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and La Chronique in Mile End. The Young Sommelier of 2013 was Loic Avril of Blumenthal's The Fat Duck
