Kinka Family Inc., the Toronto restaurant group behind Guu SakaBar and Kinton Ramen, will open Kinka Izakaya in Le Faubourg Ste-Catherine very soon.
"Hopefully within October," reports management. The inaugural Montreal outpost will join the company's six extant restaurants in Toronto.
The imminent debut of the hashtag-happy Toronto transplant cements the fact that Montreal is a progressively ripe market for casual, non-sushi Japanese. The city has seen a veritable explosion of ramen shops and izakayas over the past few years (supplanted only, perhaps, by burgers and pizza).
