Your Exclusive First Look at New Mile End Japanese Bistro Thazard

Quite the upgrade from the old Cielo Tapas. All photos by Randall Brodeur.

Welcome Thazard.

The Japanese bistro with French-style guéridon cart service and cocktails from principals Dave Schmidt (Maïs, Datcha, Kabinet, Le Mal Nécessaire), Pierre-Olivier Besner (Furco, Ludger), Christophe Jasmin (OMMA), chef Hachiro Fujise (Guu in Toronto, Izakaya Iwashi) and Edward Zaki (Chez Victoire, BarBounya) is now open. Until 2:00 a.m. in fact–a potential boon for Mile Enders in need of late sustenance of the non-greasy spoon variety.

Thazard aside, Zaki and Schmidt have other projects of note in the works. Shortly, Jeff Stinco and chef Eloi Dion will open Mimi la Nuit in Old Montreal with Zaki. Meanwhile, Schmidt's transformation of the old Green Room across the street from Thazard and Maïs is well underway.

Thazard is open Wednesday to Sunday, 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. (kitchen too). OpenTable to come or call (514) 802-8899.
