Nantha Kumar, most recently at Nouveau Palais and the erstwhile operator of a cult hole-in-the-wall restaurant on Duluth, has hit upon a semi-permanent home at Fabergé in Mile End.
The larger than life Kumar, with son Rajiv, a.k.a. MC Loe Pesci, will whip up his addictive Malaysian fare every Friday at the popular brunch restaurant, as of this week, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The Gazette wrote in May that Kumar "had been a fixture up and down the Main, where he worked the kitchen at Else’s and Copacabana before opening his own place."
"When I moved to Montreal in ’98, Nantha was the first person I heard about," says Gita Seaton, co-owner and chef at Nouveau Palais. "He was mystical to me; his personality defined the Plateau/Mile End culture of the time."
