McGill's restaurant row in Old Montreal gets a new bar and restaurant today with Commerce.
The multi-faceted concept in the old Bar & Boeuf from Martin Juneau (Pastaga, Pub Sir Joseph, Monsieur Crémeux), Louis-Philippe Breton, the MTL Cuisine restaurant group and media personality Benoît Gagnon is billed as a "bar gastronomique."
Juneau offered some details about the menu at the end of October.
The menu of Commerce will have a few sections, like seafood/raw bar with classics such as Clams Casino, Oysters Rockefeller, Lobster Thermidor, as well as a fish, a burger, a tartare and aged meats/grillades.
A LOT of vegetables as well but nothing too fancy. Just plain, simple and tasty bar food. Of course the principal owners are MTL Cuisine but I will be able to bring my vision. Nice wine list and we are going to announce pretty soon who will be the sommelier. It's going to be quite cool!
Commerce's hours are Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. and Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Now certified open.
