White hot boîte Datcha will add a cocktail bar sometime in the next month or so, reports Dave Schmidt. The impresario behind Café Sardine/Iwashi, Maïs and, soon, a tiki bar in Chinatown, reports that while the new bar shares a space with Datcha, it will not share the same hours.
The plan is to open for the after-work cocktail crowd, as of 5:30 p.m., and to stay open late, with possible spillover between the adjacent establishments.
As for that tiki bar, the work has been onerous but Schmidt is visibly animated about the project: "We recently uncovered a hidden stone wall. Once we clean it up it's going to look amazing."
Schmidt hopes to serve the first cocktail in the fresh Datcha space by March. Tiki enthusiasts will have to wait a little longer.
