Reviews for Scarpetta, Bethlehem XXX and More

Jean-Philippe Tastet (behind the paywall) dines at Scarpetta, the wine-and-small-plates-centric Sicilian restaurant on Parc, and wipes his plate clean: "Le concours de scarpetta commença, tout le monde semblant mettre un point d'honneur à nettoyer les assiettes avec application. C'est vous dire si c'était réussi." [Le Devoir]

Marie-Claude Lortie files a very concise review of Bethlehem XXX and, like some, is not sure what to make of chef/visual artist Beaver Sheppard's restaurant at first. But then the food arrives: "Ce restaurant ne fait rien comme les autres. Arrivent les plats, assez rapidement. Je suis avec mes ados qui regardent arriver ces assiettes avec suspicion. Première bouchée et les voilà conquis." [La Presse]

A lukewarm review for Jiu Xiang Yuan, a Park Ex dumpling joint, from Sarah Musgrave: "We didn't find any real gems among the sides or starters, but the seaweed salad was just fine and full of green crunchy strings that work their way around the teeth as though they were barnacles." [Gazette]

Sel Gras garners positive words from Gildas Meneu, despite some quibbles with plates that have "l'allure brouillonne": "Rien à reprocher aux cuissons et les saveurs sont bien au rendez-vous. Le service est agréable et informé. La carte des vins, d'importation privée, est bien fournie." [Voir]
