Sergio Mattoscio, the chef who gave
Montreal the world gnocchi poutine, as well as a memorable turn on Top Chef Canada, has a new project in the works in Griffintown.
Industria Brasserie Italienne is the name of the restaurant. Mattoscio reports that his new baby, slated for a late May open, "will have a fairly large variety of sfizi, followed by pasta and pizza. I really want to focus on sharing and conviviality."
The former Macaroni Bar chef adds that Industria Brasserie Italienne will be "adjacent to the Alt hotel on Peel and Wellington. There will be four restaurants opening there at the same time."
The venture shares partners with Mercuri, in whose Old Montreal/Cité Multimédia kitchen Mattoscio has temporarily set up camp to test recipes.
