Edward Zaki (Chez Victoire, BarBounya, La Récréation) and Simple Plan guitarist Jeff Stinco (Mangiafoco, Rufus Rockhead, Le Shinji) have a new venture in the works.
Zaki spoke to Eater Montreal today about the project.
We took over the Piano Rouge in Old Montreal. It will be a wine and cocktail bar with an easy tavern, street food menu. We are aiming for a clientele of 25 and over, that are looking for the ambiance of a bar and the quality of food and wine, that you can expect from a restaurant, but all in simplicity and with no frills. We have a few [chefs] in mind, that is not decided yet. The cuisine will be street and bar food with local products (sans prétention).
I've known Jeff for a few years. He is partners with some of my partners from Chez Victoire at Mangiafoco and Shinji/Rufus.
