Journal de Montréal blogger/columnist Sophie Durocher took to Twitter a week before the provincial election to jab Quebec Liberal chef du parti Philippe Couillard over the fact that she had no choice but to converse in English at two Montreal restaurants. This, apparently, proves that the city is not quite the bilingual bastion that Couillard assumes it to be.
Dimsum hier dans Q. chinois: unilingues anglais. J'appelle dans 1 resto indien rue Jarry: unilingue anglais. Pas de problème Mr Couillard.

One of the best retorts came from Gazette food critic Lesley Chesterman.
.@phcouillard how dare you belittle Qc language issues?! For Pete's sake, @sophiedurocher can't order Chinese or Indian take-out in French!
