Montreal native Roberto Leoci was a contestant on the popular Food Network show and Alton Brown vehicle Cutthroat Kitchen over the weekend. Leoci is a fixture on the Savannah, Georgia scene, with restaurants, a line of salumi and a number of local awards to his credit.

The irony of Leoci's loss on the competition-format show is that the dish that did him in was poutine. In his defense, however, the chef did have to contend with cottage cheese rather than the usual Québécois-style cheese curds. A cruel twist of fate, indeed.

Watch Alton Brown's recap of the episode.
