The southwest corner of Sherbrooke and Saint-Laurent has been a vexed locale for restaurateurs ever since the much-hyped emergence of the Hôtel Godin in 2005. Now a new batch of entrepreneurs will try to forge a viable food and beverage entity in what is now Hotel 10.
The principal spokesperson for the new restaurant, nommé Jargo, is Fabio Broccoli. Broccoli runs Fab Boss, a PR firm that "specialises in nightlife and lifestyle events."
One such event, Yelloweek - a promotional stunt for Champagne house Veuve Clicquot - took place last week at a number of restaurants in Montreal, such as Helena, L'Auberge Saint-Gabriel and Le Richmond.
Buonanotte was the stage for the final Yelloweek bash yesterday. The Buonanotte Group, of course, has a long history with the original Hôtel Godin, both as a partner and a relentless victim of city liquor licence busts. More recently, rumors were rife that the supperclub was keen to helm the new restaurant in Hotel 10.
With that, on to Fabio Broccoli's statement about Jargo, which has been edited for clarity.
I am very pleased to announce that my new restaurant, Jargo chophouse & mixologie, will be opening at the end of this month in the beautiful Hotel 10!
We have been completely transforming the original space into a modern steakhouse with delicious funky entrées, side dishes, a sumptuous raw bar and our very own Montague "1800-degree" infrared broiler! Cooking to perfection some of the best meat you have ever tried!
To enter the restaurant from the street, you must first walk through our Illy Café which will be serving authentic Italian coffee, signature sandwiches, decadent desserts, viennoiseries, and Dr. Joe Schwarcz's Healthy Wraps and Salads!
I'm teaming up with my pals Sam, Salah and Billy Alfonso along with Executive Chef Niko Karagiannakis and the Nectar & Mixologie Crew!
This has been a dream of mine for as long as I remember and after working at this for years (as you all may know) this month, my dream will finally come true!
I'll post more about Jargo and our Grand Opening as we get closer to launch date. We'll be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch, 5 à 7 and as a nightclub from 11pm-3am Thursdays through Saturdays. And of course, don't forget about our spectacular 5,200 square foot terrace!
