Another Quebec pop star wants to give the restaurant business a go. Jonas enters the fray later this month with Rosewood, a "bar and grill" next to Joverse in Old Montreal, in what was once Romagna Caffè.
Partners in the venture include Joverse principals Julian Arbia and Michael J. Killam, manager Dan Lima, bartender Brendan Baxter and Xintury Inc. spirit importer and ex-Cartel chef Matthew McKean.
Arbia, a native of Dorval whose perfect Sunday is "twelve hours of sleep, a nice brunch and then a cab straight to Piknic Electronik", spoke about the concept in a recent interview: "Joverse is having a baby…more like a teenage misfit! On June 26th, literally right next door to Joverse, Rosewood will be born! The name comes from the material used to make electric guitars. We build concepts based on music so this bar's vibe will be a mix of rock & roll, indie rock, live music and the sounds you'd hear at Coachella or a cool music festival."
As for Jonas, the singer writes: "Another chapter, another dream come true! In early July the rose will bloom! Opening my own Restaurant/Pub in the Old Port of Montreal with a few dear friends! It will be called Rosewood!"
And this, from the Rosewood Facebook page:
Rosewood, Bar and Grill is thrilled to announce it's opening it's doors! Our mission: Exotic burgers, inspired by the flavours of the world that will set your mind travelling. Cocktails crafted from homemade sodas and bitters. From Outcast [sic] to Muse, Jurrasic 5 to the Fab 4, from the speakers to the kitchen this is the real deal.
