The owners of Lucille's Oyster Dive, the popular Monkland Village seafood hangout, have a new offshoot in the works in Westmount. The stagnant China Grill will make way for a more upscale Lucille's this fall with emphasis on "pastas, fish and steaks."
Unlike the NDG original, the new restaurant will take reservations and have valet, a service a principal in the project describes as "very important to our customers."
The Westmount outlet will have a more modest variety of oysters ("maybe three or four types") but the restaurant's bellwether seafood platters will make the move to Sainte-Catherine Ouest. The new, larger space will also accommodate groups.
The conversion of China Grill will involve "a full gut." The hope is to deliver the new Lucille's sometime in November.
