Thierry Daraize calls Le Shinji "éblouissant" and accords the Jeff Stinco and Shinji Nagai restaurant a very rare five stars: "Il est rare que j'accorde cinq étoiles: je mesure toujours le pour et le contre. Évidemment, il faut que ce soit merveilleusement bon. Chaque détail compte, autant en cuisine qu'en salle, mais il faut surtout que j'éprouve un grand bonheur à chaque bouchée." Lesley Chesterman hits up another BYOW, this time in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. État-Major nets two and a half stars from the critic: "Dinner for under $60 per person (all in), is what I'd call a deal. Granted it wasn't necessarily wow-worthy and there was a certain sameness in flavours to many of the dishes, but for a night out with friends, État-Major comes highly recommended. Add superb service to the mix and you have a winner." [Gazette]

Ariane Krol files a ho hum review of Taverne F in the Quartier des Spectacles: "Tout n'est malheureusement pas de la même tenue. La salade de pieuvre, où les fragments de tentacules se perdent dans un monceau de minuscules dés de légumes, est décevante. Si l'envie d'octopode vous tenaille, optez plutôt pour la pieuvre lagareiro - un morceau de tentacule dodu accompagné de pommes de terre grelots et de pétales d'oignon rouge, le tout généreusement arrosé d'huile chaude." Mile-Ex newcomer Manitoba gets a write-up from CultMTL. A few service sputters aside, most of the food scores. Dessert in particular: "For dessert, we had strawberry tart with elderflower and chocolate ice cream. The tart reminded me of something my grandmother Paré used to make, a slice of nostalgia in the form of simple comfort food. The strawberries were served on creamy custard, the strawberries from the latest juicy harvest. The menu announced that the chocolate ice cream is "la meilleure au monde, genre" and I have to agree."
