Edgar Hypertaverne shut it down on July 19 after 13 years in business on the corner of Mont-Royal Est and Fabre. Owner Éric Le François, a partner in the likes of Rufus Rockhead, La Taverne Normand, Drinkerie Ste-Cunégonde, Laurea/Lorbeer, took to Facebook at the time to offer this account:
"The Plateau is not the destination it once was although is still a great place to live and go out. But unlike 5 or 10 years ago, our customers now come mostly from the neighbourhood. Which is not a bad thing, but it forces us to adjust and work harder for less results."
That assessment aside, prominent Plateau real estate never remains vacant for long. Now rumor has it that a new owner with other restaurant interests in the city will come forward next month and make over the once-popular bar.
