The former Souvenirs d'Indochine is in the midst of a considerable makeover across from Parc Jeanne-Mance. The trio behind the facelift, Nicolas Urli (Flyjin, Velvet), Francisco Randez (ex-Porte Rouge, Canal Évasion, Rythme Fm, TVA) and Flore-Anne Ducharme (Les Évadés advertising agency), plan to convert the space into a distinctly Montreal version of a Vietnamese pub of the sort that proliferates on the backstreets of Hanoi and Saigon.
Crucially, however, the new restaurant will serve as a vehicle for the Southeast Asian stylings of Laotian chef Ross Ninja San (ex-Biiru and Chez Victoire) and ex-Souvenirs d'Indochine owner, chef and Hà namesake Hong Hà Nguyen.
The principals hope to open Hà by the end of the month. Have a look at the work in progress.
