Korean fried chicken is having a moment in Montreal. Now another newcomer wants to convert us all to twice-fried, yangnyeom-style poultry.
Mon Ami opened last week in N.D.G. The restaurant serves up a couple versions of Korean fried chicken and strays beyond the usual bibimbap and bulgogi.
There is jokbal (pigs' feet cooked in soy, ginger, garlic and rice wine), pajeon (spring onion pancake) and jajangmyeon (noodles in black soybean paste with pork and vegetables), for example. And a lot of fried chicken.
Mon Ami is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
