The likes of Stelio Perombelon, Gilles Tolen and John Winter Russell will pop-up at Callao, Mario Navarrete Jr.'s Peruvian cantina in Mile End, for a parade of 20 course prix fixe dinners later this year.
The cost: $195, sans tax and 20% tip. Or in the area of $260 before wine.
Mesa 10, as Navarrete Jr. dubs it, is open to ten diners per event. It all starts October 22 and 23 with Perombelon (Les Chèvres, Les Cons Servent).Tolen (Decca 77, Brasserie T!) will cook on November 24 and 25 and Winter Russell (Van Horne) on January 7 and 8, 2015.
This is all a test run for next March, when Navarrete Jr. himself will present 20 course menus for nine weeks between March 9 and May 9.
Addendum: on Friday, September 26, Navarrete Jr. revised the price of the Mesa 10 events to $145 before tax and tip, with a $50 wine supplement.
