Word from Chowhound that Toronto businessman Len Fragomeni (H Group Inc.) will open Spirit House Montreal at 244 Saint-Jacques Ouest in October. The original Spirit House in King West, Toronto shares space with and is run by Fragomeni's Toronto Institute of Bartending.

The emphasis at Spirit House is on, natch, spirits and cocktails. But the bar will serve food as well. In terms of what to expect, this excerpt from TorontoLife.com about Spirit House Toronto may offer hints.

To offset all that booze, chef Kendall Collingridge offers a menu of "sexy bar food," with spirits incorporated into a few dishes like the bourbon-brushed mini burgers made with ground prime rib (three for $11), poutine with pulled duck, Quebec cheese curds, duck béchamel and whiskey jus ($10) and warm, sugar-spiced donuts with a Patron chocolate ganache dip ($7). For snacking, there’s a charcuterie plate ($21) and a cheese plate ($19).

FYI, Fragomeni's H Group Inc. trademarks include: Spirit House Toronto, Spirit House Montreal, Toronto Institute of Bartending, Montreal Institute of Bartending, Chicago Institute of Bartending, Toronto Cocktail Week Inc. and Whiskylicious.
