Almost five years after longtime owner Moreno de Marchi sold Le Latini, the landmark restaurant has been razed by developers. The 35-year-old establishment served its last customer on September 12.
A farewell message was posted at the time to Facebook:
We would like to sincerely thank you for your support; especially that of our loyal clients and friends. It is the end of a great journey filled with memories. Life goes on, and we will see each other again!
New owner Joao Mendes sold the property, evaluated at over $6.4 million, and may open another restaurant. In the interim a world-class wine cellar, some 35,000 bottles strong, is in storage and possibly fated for auction.
