The man France's Gault Millau guide named 'Chef of the Century' in 1989 may expand his restaurant empire to Canada — and specifically Montreal. Yes, Joël Robuchon, holder of a world record number of Michelin Guide stars, with restaurants from Las Vegas to Tokyo, is in alleged talks to possibly open a version of his L'Atelier concept in la belle province.
The exact words from a Robuchon spokesperson today: "At this point in time, this is just an idea that is being considered. No contract has been signed."
Notably, the Montreal developer behind an ill-fated, axed Downtown project called the Gramercy Residences had, at one time, included a mock-up with a boutique entitled 'Robuchon' on its website.
