Le Journal de Montréal critic Thierry Daraize endorses a meatball concept restaurant in Griffintown this week. Nini Meatball House is nice, quite feminine, but totally for dudes too, writes Daraize. Décor aside, the critic loves the fact that you can dine heartily at Nini on the cheap.
Curiously, however, few of the meatballs on offer blow Daraize's mind, save perhaps for the fish balls with tartar sauce ("C’était tellement bon"). Others, like classic Italian meatballs, Thai-style shrimp and pork balls with peanut sauce, chicken balls with wild mushroom sauce, and Montreal-inspired smoked meat balls, disappoint, or fail to thrill. Dessert's a dud too. It's a wonder Nini Meatball House is able to coax three stars on five, and compliments like this: "Un super concept, des prix doux, un beau lieu. Bravo!" In Daraize's opinion, all that's needed are a few kitchen adjustments, and Nini Meatball House "ce serait parfait." Another merciful review, from Montreal's most softhearted critic.
