Way out west in San Diego, California, word comes of a new restaurant serving "Montreal-style authentic poutine and bagels."
From Eater San Diego:
Mess Royale Poutine & Bagels will in fact serve the real thing when it opens in March — hand-rolled St-Viateur Bagel from the legendary bagel bakery whose flagship store is located in the Mile End neighborhood of Montreal.
The forthcoming restaurant will receive shipments of bagels from St-Viateur three times a week. Owner Hugo Tassone, originally from Canada, says Mess Royal will offer bagels, bagel sandwiches, poutine, Montreal-style hot dogs, and more. He hopes to open more spots featuring "Montreal-inspired gourmet comfort food" in the future.
