Bagging a coveted parcel of Little Italy does not guarantee success, apparently. Two years after a much-heralded grand opening on the oh so visible corner of Saint-Laurent and Saint-Zotique, a legal skirmish between partners has impelled Brama to cease operations.
The Italian restaurant received decent reviews in its short time on the scene. Writing in the Gazette shortly after it opened, Lesley Chesterman awarded 2.5 stars and praised then chef Mike Ursini's food: "It wasn’t the Italian meal to end all Italian meals, but most everything I ate was delicious."
Chesterman's review of Brama ended with a musing that reads much differently in light of the restaurant's abrupt shutter: "(...) I realized it had been forever since I’d seen this much action in Little Italy. If this is an indication of an upswing in the hot-and-cold neighbourhood, I’m all for it."
