The Montreal restaurant community is still in shock over the loss of Damas on Friday to a blaze that officials deem suspicious. It took 40 firefighters an hour and a half to extinguish the fire at 5210 ave. du Parc at 6 a.m. on February 6. The restaurant was gutted in the process.

Subsequently, Damas' management published this statement on Facebook: "Thank you everyone for your support in this sad time. We suffered a major fire this morning forcing the restaurant's temporary closure. We will keep you informed of the reopening date."
