Maison Sociale, the multi-faceted revamp of the old Green Room, will soft launch later today. An eclectic group of partners backs the venture, which pulls quadruple duty as a social club, café, bar and restaurant—with a radio station to boot. In the kitchen: New Brunswick native Tom Allain, late of Hôtel Herman. And take note: cocktail guru Mélanie Aumais recently left Tripes & Caviar to work the bar at the new Mile End hangout.
Principal Dave Schmidt (Maïs, Kabinet, Datcha, Le Mal Nécessaire, Thazard) offered these details today: "We presently don't have our full capacity permit, but we are open as of today. Right now we are operating as a cafe in the day and doing dinner service at night, but closing by 11. Next week we should be open until 3am and will be able to operate as a bar as well as a cafe. Our goal is to be open as many hours as possible."
Status: Soft launched. 5386 boul. Saint-Laurent, (514) 439-3419.
