Hot on the heels of this map, another player is out to prove that Montreal is the taco capital of Canada. La Capital, open as of last week next to tiki bar Le Mal Nécessaire, is from three partners, Rafael Hernandez Vaillard, Paulino Martinez Cardenas and Geoffrey Moreau, who hail from Monterrey and Mexico City. "We love this city, and we love the dynamic of Chinatown. It's very family-oriented and at night it has the potential to be a pre-party place. Have a bite, and go party in the Plateau or Old Montreal."

La Capital offers a variety of tacos, from your al pastor to your battered shrimp tacos with chipotle mayo. Status: La Capital1096 Saint-Laurent, below René-Lévesque. Open Tuesday to Sunday for now, with a liquor permit to come. Certified open.
