Le Journal de Montréal Finally Discovers Neighbour Le Sieur d'Iberville

Le Sieur d'Iberville has been open for seven months on the corner of Mont-Royal Est and d'Iberville, across the street from Le Journal de Montréal. The critic from the daily tabloid, Thierry Daraize, is typically keen to jump on new restaurants but, bafflingly, took this long to give the new wave pub from partners Stephen Leslie (Monkland Tavern, Tavern on the Square) and Mike and Greg Silas (Typhoon Lounge) a look.

Most of the food from Leslie and co. wows Daraize. The burger, for example, is a standout: "Le Cheeseburger Mont-Royal, Cheddar au lait cru, oignons caramélisés, tomates, laitue, cornichons. Un vrai bon burger! Il faut dire que la viande est particulièrement agréable à la dégustation. Le serveur nous avait mentionné que la viande était fraîchement hachée, et ce, chaque jour. Ça donne un résultat de boulettes de bœuf que l’on pourrait faire à la maison avec soin. Parfait."

The end result is good news for Le Sieur: "Une belle brasserie pour bien manger et prendre un verre en bonne compagnie!" Management may want to brace for some new business from their newspaper neighbour.
