NDG gets burgers, fries, beers, shakes and soft serve ice cream today. Notre-Boeuf-de-Grâce is now open at 5732 Sherbrooke Ouest, corner Wilson. "Beef will be ground fresh daily on site and the fries are fresh, made in house, as well as condiments, shakes, sodas and so on," says principal Jonathan Dresner. "We have beer on draft, fun cocktails and a full bar." Look for a terrasse too. Dresner and Mammad Abedi, who operates a Double Pizza next door, are behind the new restaurant. Dresner is also a partner in Kupfert & Kim, a Toronto health food chain with expansion plans for Montreal.
Dan Geltner will helm the kitchen at Notre-Boeuf-de-Grâce, a move Dresner was proud to announce in February: "As you know, Dan is a well-known chef and he's been all over the world and does all types of food and has been involved in so many restaurants but he's always wanted to do burgers. When I called him up in the summer to tell him [about Notre-Boeuf-de-Grâce], he was concerned about how busy he was with other projects but he and I kept talking. In the end we made it work and he's our guy."
Status: Notre-Boeuf-de-Grâce, 5732 Sherbrooke Ouest, corner Wilson, 5 p.m. to midnight for now. Extended hours and weekend brunch to come. Certified soft open.
