Sad news for customers of the old Souvenirs d'Indochine, long a fixture across from Parc Jeanne-Mance, its successor Hà, and the Montreal restaurant community in general. Chef Hong Hà Nguyen has died at age 62. Nic Urli, a partner in Hà, just paid tribute on Facebook to the man he called a "mentor, a big brother, and a friend."
Nous le remercions pour sa sagesse, ses conseils, son rire contagieux et son amour inconditionnel. Nous nous engageons à perpétuer son héritage et à préserver sa mémoire en nous inspirant des valeurs véhiculées par cet homme authentique et généreux.
Born in Vietnam, Hà Nguyen emigrated to Quebec in the 1980s. Prior to Souvenirs d'Indochine, the chef opened and worked at Pho Viêt, Escale à Saigon, and Les Bridés. Our thoughts are with Hà Nguyen's family and friends.
