Step Inside the New Damas on Van Horne in Outremont

Exclusive photos of the hotly anticipated new restaurant.

Eater photographer Randall Brodeur was on hand at Damas last Thursday to capture the restaurant's return after a long, painful hiatus. ICYMI the standout Syrian restaurant from principal Fuad Alnirabie was razed by a suspicious fire last February and, as a result, was forced to decamp for new digs in Outremont.

Several months later the new space on Van Horne is open for business. Damas redux is more spacious than the original restaurant on du Parc, with a large, open kitchen and a considerable terrasse that abuts Bloomfield. Regulars of the restaurant will recognize the design flourishes, from the red-hued and latticed ceiling to the light fixtures. In 2014 Eater National critic Bill Addison wrote that Damas was evidence "that elegant Middle Eastern cooking is finally taking its overdue and deserved place in North America's food culture." Rejoice: the new Damas is here.
