Nicola Travaglini Files for Bankruptcy, Vows Comeback

New, 1 comment

Alcohol permit the key, apparently.

The owner of Nicola Travaglini, a gourmet food boutique-cum-restaurant once heralded as a kind of Eataly-lite for Montreal, pledged today that his shuttered business will return soon. This despite the fact that the Little Italy, Jean-Talon Market adjacent shop recently filed for bankruptcy.

Reached today by phone at his office in Anjou, Nicola Travaglini straight up denied the bankruptcy filing. "No, we are not 'en faillite.' We will reopen soon, better than ever. The obstacle in front of us is the alcohol permit." When pressed, the businessman relented. "You can check the records. All the records are public." An Industry Canada representative confirmed today that the business Nicola Travaglini & Monsieur Basilic did indeed file for bankruptcy on July 15.
