Thavas Curry Box Spices Up Downtown Montreal With Indian Sandwiches, Snacks

Now open on Bishop.

Thavas Curry Box

Here's a solemn promise from Montreal's newest Indian restaurant, via Facebook: "ALL OF OUR TRADITIONAL RECIPES ARE COOKED JUST LIKE MOM USED TO MAKE THEM. WE ONLY USE FRESH AND ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS IN ALL OF OUR DISHES!"

From the looks of Thavas Curry Box's menu (below) this is not your average thali shop. There are Indian-inspired sandwiches—a curried beef burger among them—a range of $2 snacks, and, indeed, classics like biriyani, a masala dosa, and, yes, butter chicken. There's a pick-your-protein option too, with the likes of beef, chicken, and goat on offer. Bonus: there's a terrasse and the restaurant's kitchen is open super late on weekends.

Status: Thavas Curry Box, 1249 Bishop (below Sainte-Catherine), (514) 398-0444, Monday to Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Thursday to Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
