A new ramen shop, Schlouppe Bistrot Nakamichi, is about to open downtown, in the Concordia University quarter. The restaurant from principals Jumpei Iwakiri and Bukhbat Zorigoo replaces the bygone Café Verdure at 2159 Mackay, between Sherbrooke and de Maisonneuve.
Ramen plus students equals success, ostensibly, but the competition downtown is about to ratchet up. Rumor has it that another ramen restaurant, from the Izakaya Kabocha family, is about to open close to Kazu, a bit further west. Kinka Izakaya has held some ramen pop-ups of late too, with Toronto sister restaurant Kinton Ramen. Still, Schlouppe Bistrot Nakamichi's arrival seems opportune. Here are some Instagram shots of the work in progress.
