Le Colonel Moutarde

Seven partners are behind a new Montreal restaurant/salon de jeux on Saint-Denis. Le Colonel Moutarde, open as of yesterday, just completed a successful crowdfund campaign that raised $21,050 in a month (see the restaurant's video pitch, below)—more than $6,000 above the project's goal. Catherine Catherine designed the space, which includes a street-front terrasse. More on the restaurant here, translated:

Colonel Moutarde offers a unique experience: a full service restaurant and bar along with board games. We want Colonel Moutarde to become a destination of choice for those who wonder “What are we doing tonight?”. You can come, eat, play, and drink, and in good company.

A Chowhound member has some more intel on the Plateau newcomer: “The focus is on good cheap eats, cocktails, and board and card games. The whole place is designed for gaming, but it's also a restaurant with a serious bar. I've tasted a few of the dishes and they are very good. So are the cocktails. Beer is $5.75 for a real 20oz pint.”

Status: Le Colonel Moutarde, 4418 Saint-Denis, (514) 566-8155, now open.
