The latest project from chef Jérôme Ferrer may help answer the question, "Is haute cuisine dead in Montreal?". The frontman for the white tablecloth, Relais & Châteaux restaurant Europea, and his partners, have closed their bistro, Andiamo, and made the space over as Chez Jerry, a "traditional casse-croûte with Québécois terroir products." Here's more, translated from the Europea group's official statement today:
Comfort food fans will find dishes they know well at Chez Jerry, updated, like a Gaspésie lobster roll with celery rémoulade and garlic butter; the Jerry poutine with mushroom sauce and foie gras, cheese curds from the Livernoche family, and potatoes from farmer Yves Decelles; organic popcorn chicken nuggets made with poultry from the Martel family farm; and a piggy hot dog from the Forget brothers.
Management describes the restaurant's vibe as "vintage 1960s." See Chez Jerry's menu below.
Status: Chez Jerry, 1083 Côte du Beaver Hall, (514) 861-2634, opens Tuesday, October 6.
