Are chef-driven casse-croûtes the next big Montreal restaurant trend? Europea and Jérôme Ferrer are about to get in on the act—and now we have a logo visual on Chez Tousignant, the Little Italy casse-croûte complement to Impasto and Pizzeria Gema. The anticipated project from Stefano Faita, Michele Forgione, and Impasto chef de cuisine Yann Turcotte is slated to open very soon on Drolet between Bélanger and Mozart, steps from Jean-Talon Market.
Forgione revealed the logo and offered this on Instagram today (edited for clarity): "Finally the time has come to unveil the much anticipated Chez Tousignant logo. After almost a year and a half of testing and re-testing we are close. Designed by the great Zebulon Perron, owned and operated by myself and Stefano Faita, and our chef/co-owner Yann Tousignant Turcotte. For Yann this is not a gimmick, an interpretation of a casse-croûte—it is his memory of growing up in la belle province, accompanied by his experiences garnered over the last two decades. This journeyman will not and refuses to even remotely re-interpret what has been done already by his people before him. All he wants to do is give you what you deserve, and that is his knowledge in the form of what he cherishes the most, the beloved casse-croûte of his youth. Because at the end of the day you deserve it."
