The Run-Off: Vote Again for Montreal’s Restaurant of the Year

Settling it once and for all

It’s a showdown
Sefi Amir/Randall Brodeur

On Wednesday, November 16 at 8 p.m., Eater will present the 2016 Eater Awards, our seventh annual celebration of all that's made the Montreal restaurant world run — and run wild — in the past 12 months. Winners will be selected on both the local and national levels, and the voting happened last week — but with one minor hitch. The voting for Restaurant of the Year resulted in an exact tie for first place. So we’re holding one more vote to determine the winner.

Hoogan et Beaufort and Larry’s each received 27.46 per cent of the vote, with the exact same number of votes, so the poll below is between them only. The other nominees, Candide, Hvor, and Foxy received 21.59 per cent, 12.79 per cent and 10.69 per cent respectively. A quick primer: Hoogan et Beaufort in Rosemont offered “fresh and delicate” fare from former 400 Coups chef Marc-André Jetté and sommelier William Saulnier. Meanwhile, Larry’s, the lighter-hearted little brother of Mile End mainstay Lawrence received praise for its unpretentious small plates and neighbourhood atmosphere.

Here's how the voting works: Eater editors have named nominees in Montreal for each of five major categories. Editors will pick winners from the nominees, and readers will vote to award one nominee in each category with a readers’ choice award. Ready to play your part? This poll will be open until 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15; voting irregularities will be strictly policed.
