Le Smoking BBQ Fires Up All the Meats at New Downtown Montreal Restaurant

'Tis the season for Montreal food trucks to open restaurants, apparently. Le Smoking BBQ, a meals-on-wheels peddler of low-and-slow cooked meats, unveiled its inaugural brick-and-mortar space on Friday. The arrival of the new restaurant at 2186 Sainte-Catherine Ouest, between Lambert-Closse and Chomedey, across from Adonis supermarket and the Seville condo development, is another potentially encouraging sign of Shaughnessy Village's upturn.

On Le Smoking BBQ's menu: pulled pork, smoked chicken, homemade sausages, ribs, and beef brisket. All meats are available in platter, sandwich, or, natch, poutine form. Sides include barbecue standards like mac 'n' cheese and slaw. Le Smoking also bottles its own signature barbecue sauce.

The restaurant's going after sports fans. The NHL all-star game and NFL Pro Bowl were aired at the new space over the weekend; with Super Bowl 50 and the second half of the Canadiens season coming up, Le Smoking's timing looks pretty good. Now it's up to Montreal's barbecue lovers to determine how the newcomer stacks up to the likes of Blackstrap BBQ, Lattuca, and Dinette Triple Crown.

Status: Le Smoking BBQ, 2186 Sainte-Catherine Ouest, (514) 895-4346, now open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
