Bagels In The Blood, a new doc from filmmakers Jonathan Keijser and Daniel Beresh, traces a century of Montreal food heritage at Fairmount Bagel. The soul of the short film is the touching, behind-the-scenes glimpse it provides of the complex dynamic that bound three generations of the Shlafman family together at the foundational Mile End shop. What's Fairmount's secret? "Making something that comes out of a wood-fired oven, that's warm, and people eat it and they smile. I think that's it," concludes current owner Irwin Shlafman.
