A new French-Swiss restaurant, Raclette Etcetera (not to be confused with Plateau Swiss standby La Raclette), recently landed in Mile End. On the menu: raclette (classic, Québécoise, végétarienne, breakfast), tartiflette, and fondue (cheese and chocolate). The restaurant offers an express dine-in or takeaway raclette format everyday for lunch between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. For dinner, enjoy fuller raclette plates (melt-your-own grill and all) and fondues.
Principals Isabelle Ngo and Aurélien Retailleau recently spoke about the concept. "Portions are generous, clients grill their own ingredients, melt their own cheese and it's also fun to do around a table with a friend or a group (we have raclette grills for two). Customers rave about our fondue — it's a blend of authentic Swiss cheese that isn't overpowered by the usual white wine taste."
Raclette Etcetera plans to offer daily specials and seasonal raclette riffs, like a cabane à sucre version come April. "We'll also offer different appetizers, like deep fried pickles stuffed with Brie." See menus and food photos below.
Status: Raclette Etcetera, 90 Laurier Ouest, corner Saint-Urbain, (514) 903-5151, open Tuesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
